Water and Sand: A Journey through the Atacama Desert

The story of water in the Atacama Desert has not always been the same: there were two periods of abundant rainfall that loaded the subway water tables of the desert, but this happened more than 9,000 years ago, so all the water that is currently extracted for urban, agricultural and mining use is not being renewed. This is the premise of the documentary “Water and Sand”, a production of Cábala Producciones for the Center for Advanced Studies in Arid Zones (CEAZA), directed by Gonzalo Argandoña and conducted by the National Science Award, Dr. Eric Goles. Project funded by the Explora Program of Conicyt, through the XXII National Contest of Projects for the Valuation and Dissemination of Science and Technology 2018-2019.
